Denis Perlman, founder of Silverscape Designs in 1976 and a designer since 1966 took pride in making gemstones magical. At Putney School in Vermont, Denis worked in leather, ceramics, wood and photography as well as jewelry. He transformed a school bus into a mobile workshop, then traveled around the country giving jewelry demonstrations while earning an undergraduate degree in molecular biology from MIT in 1975 with a minor in architecture. In 1976, he opened the first Silverscape Designs in Amherst, MA., then expanded with a second gallery in it's current location in a grand art deco bank building in Northampton, MA. Denis' love for his art and the business of jewelry never diminished, his family and the Silverscape Designs' staff continues his legacy.
