2020 has been a year of changes for many of us. One thing is for sure, many of us are taking a little more time to appreciate the people in our lives. Another sure thing- despite the current state of the world around us, life is still happening. Babies are being born, birthdays are still being celebrated and people are falling in love and even beginning to plan for big moments in their lives! If one of those big moments is a proposal- you have come to the right spot. We know that proposals can be intimidating, so we are here to help. We have pulled together some of the top engagement ring trends for 2020 to help you get started. 2020 Trends
Fancy Cut: Fancy cut refers to any diamond cut that is not round. Options include: Pear, Oval, Emerald, Princess and Marquise Cut. See the image below to see what each style looks like.
Colored Stone Engagement Rings: An engagement ring should show the personal style of the individual who will be wearing it. Diamonds are a classic choice but adding a pop of color is a great way so showcase personality and personal style. A ring should be as unique as the person wearing it, that’s where colored stones come in! Some alternative choices are: -Sapphires- Many people will think of the classic bold blue of a sapphire, but did you know they come in every color of the rainbow? If your loved one loves pink or even orange, a sapphire might be a great choice for a center stone or side stone of the engagement ring. -Rubies- These are another great choice and of course red is the color of love! The ring featured below shows a beautiful sapphire engagement band by coast with a lovely halo of diamonds to help accent the center round cut sapphire.
Vintage Inspired: Some things never go out of style, that’s why vintage and vintage inspired rings are always a great choice for someone who appreciates timeless pieces. Filigree and milgrain bands add a little something extra to an engagement band. You might even consider a setting with a halo of different cut diamonds. If you think a vintage look is the right choice, consider repurposing a family heirloom, searching for estate pieces or talk to one of Silverscape Design’s engagement experts about designers who are inspired by eras of the past. You might like designs by Pejay Creations like the ring featured below which is a great example of two trends: vintage and colored stones!
Hidden Halos/Surprise Details: The best parts of relationships often include special secrets, quiet moments and hints of surprise. Why not reflect those special moments in your engagement ring. Halos (circles of stones around a center stone) have been a trend in recent years, but hidden halos are a fun trend for 2020. A ring of diamonds set below the center stone are a nice added feature and will add sparkle at every angle. Other hidden features could include: -one diamond or a colored stone set below the center stone -designs and filigree on the side of bands -a subtle mix of metals- you don’t just have to use one type of metal anymore! Create a two tone ring with rose gold and white gold like the Frederic Sage Band below!

Three Stone Rings: Three stone rings have always been a classic choice but they are on trend right now because of Meaghan Markle! In June 2019 Meaghan revealed an updated engagement ring and brought 3 Stone Engagement Rings back into the public eye. Three stone rings offer many options in regards to diamond cut. See below for a few different options and remember you can mix and match any of the shapes mentioned above in our first trend: Fancy Cut Diamonds! You can even customize a three stone ring with other stones like Sapphires and Rubies as well!
